Eric Fischl.
Working through the primacy of the figure, Eric Fischl paints how we imagine and experience the body in modern life. Associated with the neo-expressionist movement of the 1980s, Fischl is a master of creating psychologically charged narratives that can be irreverent and sacred at once. In this exhibition of large-scale watercolours, Fischl's gestural brushstrokes and attention to qualities of light create expressions in the figure which can be read through the abstracted body.

Open Air Painting and Fundraiser at Jesse Ashbridge House (1444 Queen Street East in Beach area of Toronto).
Several of the famous landscape painters in the Group of Seven were founding members of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA). You have a unique opportunity to see current members of the OSA paint outdoors, on location, in the beautiful gardens of the Jesse Ashbridge House in Toronto. All paintings are for sale at $75. each. Proceeds go to the pARTners Project.
Through the pARTners Project, the OSA and the Woodstock Art Gallery aim to establish an ongoing mentorship program where members of the OSA will work with some of Ontario's top graduates of fine arts programs in universities and colleges, as they begin their art careers.

Toronto Watercolour Society Fall Juried Show – TWS's annual fall exhibition.
Two noted Canadian artists, Art Cunanan and Merv Richardson will jury Toronto Watercolour Society members' original water media art pieces of various themes and subjects. It offers healing and recovery through creative arts. Our mandate is to provide an oasis from the rigors and challenges of life for people living with long-term mental illness or addictions. The studio believes in educating the public to reduce the stigmatization of mental illness.

Isaac Bashevis Singer and His Artists. Isaac Bashevis Singer, a Nobel Prize literary laureate left a legacy of more than thirty illustrated novels and short stories. This collection of original drawings and illustrated books represents a century of artists, including William Pène du Bois, Larry Rivers and Maurice Sendak. This exhibition is in collaboration with the Toronto Ashkenaz Festival and the Hebrew Union College Museum in New York.

Kathleen Weich: From There to Here.
From There to Here is Kathleen Weich's latest solo show. In this show the artist transcribes her memories of landscape and still life into digital colour fields devoid of extraneous features. There are no trees, streams or bowls of fruit, yet if you stand in front of one of her paintings and let the pure colour and composition wash over you, you will begin to see through her eyes. Her bold colour sense and broad palette knife strokes evoke the spirit of the abstract expressionists; you feel her hand move across the canvas and if you allow yourself, you can witness her memories being distilled into bold bands of colour.

James Ridyard's exhibition Framing Memory marks the opening of Yorkminster Park's fifth season. Using the "frame" as historical reference, landscape painter James Ridyard explores painting High Park from memory.

The Rectory Gallery and the Rectory Café share the same building and hours of operation to provide an excellent menu for Island visitors and gallery patrons. Eric McConnachie's oil paintings capture the beauty of the surrounding landscape, in both Parry Sound / Muskoka, where he lives, and Toronto Island where he is a frequent visitor.

Rogue Wave 2010. An outdoor exhibition of installation art on Toronto Island featuring over 30 artists and extending from Ward's Island west to Hanlan's Point. Exhibition features site-specific works, installed in the Island parkland, and created by local artists ranging from emerging artists to nationally known. Also, ongoing weekend outdoor events – original cello compositions, Roving Rogue Rave performances, and more. Exhibition open daily.
Maps showing locations of the works of art are available for visitors at the Rogue Wave kiosk at Ward's Island Ferry Dock.
