Joseph Sampson: Water Alive – oils on canvas. Joe is an OCA graduate, focuses mainly on waterscapes. He uses water imagery to depict the dichotomy between movement and immobility. Whether the focus is cold, warm, tranquil or angry, water's magnificence strikes the viewer and an emotional response is evoked. From a distance the viewer is drawn towards what appears to be a photograph. Upon closer inspection, brushstrokes are revealed and the observer is made aware of the meticulous layers of brushwork, resulting in the illusion that the viewer is still for an instant, at the water's edge.

Fully Present – group exhibition. Curator: Farhad Nargol-O'Neill. Gallery director: Colette French. Artist / curator Farhad Nargol-O'Neill has called together twelve artists – fellow travelers – for an exposition of works. His eyes and senses tell him that the creation of these works has involved the transfer of part of each artist's being into these objets d'art, so that the artists are truly present in the art in a real and fundamental way. All are welcome to view these works and open themselves to experiencing the relationship between these soulful expressive objects, and themselves. A fine collection of much that is best in Canadian art, this exhibition gives an excellent sense of where we have come from, and (in part) where we are going. Artists: Ray Cattell, Gary Stark, Pat Fairhead, Farhad Nargol-O'Neill (curator), Joan Dubros, Mary Jane Holmes Baillie, Bruce Ferreira-Wells, Andrew Cheddie Sookrah, Homa Ismaili, Jon Riosa, Nathan Cyprys, Ottilie Mason.

Farhad Nargol-O'Neill: Animas Res – Soul Objects II – solo exhibition. Gallery director: Colette French (colettefrench@securenet.net). This exhibition is comprised of works of sculpture, sculptural works in bas-relief, and examples of automatic writing. All works function as individual repositories of the soul of the creator – more than mnemonic devices, they exist corporeally and in multiple realms at once. They assert belief and the truth behind experience. They are objects which take into account the places the artist has been, experienced, the ideas and faith notions that have determined his art and the nature of his investigations. The nature of a work of art as a transubstantiated soul-object, the relationship between the artist and viewer and the the art object – these are all represented in both process and result.

The Trias Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Charles Gibbons and the launch of the book by R. D. Humber, Charles Gibbons So Far... Special book signing event with artist signing a limited number of books on Sat 25 Sep, 2-4pm. The exhibition revisits Gibbons' paintings from 1988 to 2005. Gibbons is known for using a disparate array of mediums and methods to present and explore some of the most challenging questions and paradoxes about the nature of being human. The American art critic Dave Hickey has said, "Artists shouldn't be obligated to explain their work. I don't care about an artist's intentions. I care if the work looks like it might have some consequences." Charles Gibbons demonstrates that his works have consequences, and words are not needed to pull you deep into the spiritual essence of each piece.
